All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen [ AIMIM ]

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen or AIMIM translation: (All India Council of the Union of Muslims) is a recognized state political party based in the Indian state of Telangana, with its head office in the old city of Hyderabad, which has its roots in the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen founded in 1927 in the Hyderabad State of British India. The All India Majlis Ittehad ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is a political party dedicated to protect and advance the rights of Muslims, Dalits, BCs, Minorities, and all other underprivileged communities in India. It bears true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India. It strongly believes in the nation’s secular democracy and strives to protect and enhance its quality by effective representation from local municipal councils to the parliament.

The party president and member of parliament Asaduddin Owaisi received the Sansad Ratna Award for 2014. The party has long been seen as a political representation of Muslims in the state of Andhra Pradesh, and now Telangana.Unlike most political parties Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi rally started on time exactly. The venue was already packed with a large number of Muslims most of whom were youngsters and more people continued to stream towards the ground. AIMIM was once reduced to one Assembly seat in Andhra Pradesh in 1994. On 12 November 2012, Asaduddin Owaisi announced the withdrawal of support to the UPA government citing communal policies of the current congress led government. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen was then supporting Congress, both at Centre and at state level in Andhra Pradesh.

The AIMIM began its electoral debut in 1959 when it contested and won two municipal by-elections in the city of Hyderabad. The candidates won with huge margins of 50% and 65%, respectively. The other leading contenders, backed by the Congress party, nearly lost their deposits. In the 1960 municipal elections in Hyderabad, the AIMIM contested 30 of 66 seats and won a spectacular 19.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen clearly appears to have caught the fancy and imagination of the younger generation of Muslims and one should not be surprised if AIMIM a fairly new party in Maharashtra starts winning local council seats in Muslim dominated pockets in the state. The AIMIM as a political party purports to "protect" and "advance the rights" of Muslims, "Dalits, BCs, minorities, and all other underprivileged communities" in India. It "bears true faith" and "allegiance" to the Constitution of India. It purports to believe in the nation’s secular democracy and that it strives to "protect" and "enhance" its quality by effective representation from local municipal councils to the Parliament.
