The AINRC concluded an electoral alliance with the AIADMK party, while the Congress party allied itself with the DMK. As a result of the election, the AINRC - AIADMK alliance won in 20 of 30 constituencies. Here, the AINRC was in 15 of 17 constituencies in which he competed successfully. Thus, the splinter group finished twenty -year-long period of Congress rule in Pondicherry. After the election, the Chief as the new minister sworn N. Rangasamy decided not to form a coalition government with the AIADMK, but to govern alone, where he is a renegade DMK candidate who now sits as an independent member of Parliament, provide the necessary majority of votes. This decision led to more clearly upset with the AIADMK.
